Nepious is a browser-based practice space for learning task formats and improving English skills. Here are the practical details to know before you begin.

Is Nepious free to use?

Yes. Nepious’s public practice app is free, with no account, subscription or paid AI service. It includes original exercises, prerecorded audio, microphone recording, answer keys and guided self-review.

Is Nepious an official Duolingo English Test website?

No. Nepious is an independent preparation project. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Duolingo. Its questions and model responses are original practice material.

Will a Nepious practice score match my official DET score?

No reliable equivalence has been established. Nepious’s practice band uses an unvalidated teaching formula. Official DET scores depend on calibrated adaptive questions and proprietary scoring models.

Can I practice speaking with my device’s microphone?

Yes, in a supported browser on the HTTPS website after granting microphone permission. You can record, replay, download and review your response. Optional on-device transcription requires browser support and an installed English language pack.

Does Nepious upload my voice recordings?

The public static edition does not upload your microphone recordings. Audio recording, playback and checks run in your browser. Optional native transcription requires local processing and does not fall back to cloud recognition.

Do I need to install an app?

No separate application is needed for the core website. Optional local transcription may require a browser-managed English language-pack download. Recording and manual transcripts work without that recognition pack.

Does my progress sync between devices?

No. Progress and recordings stay in the browser and website origin where you created them. Export your journal and download important recordings before clearing site data or changing devices.

Which English accents can I practice?

The prerecorded practice bank includes American and British English voices. Tutor mode lets you focus on one accent and slow playback; timed practice uses mixed accents at the original pace.

Still choosing where to begin?

Try an untimed reading task, a short listening exercise and a recorded speaking response. Then read the explanations and choose one skill to develop.
