Privacy and Browser Storage
How Nepious’s public edition handles microphone recordings, progress, on-device recognition, website requests and data exports.
Your recordings stay in your browser
The public static edition has no recording-upload endpoint, cloud account or backend progress database. Microphone recording, replay and signal checks run in the browser after you grant permission. Saved recordings use IndexedDB; text progress and preferences use localStorage.
Optional speech recognition
Recognition is optional. Nepious requires the browser to process it locally and checks for an English language pack. If support is missing, the app keeps recording and manual-transcript features without switching to cloud recognition. Language-pack setup may involve a browser-managed download from its vendor. A transcript can contain errors and does not establish pronunciation quality.
Hosting requests
Your browser downloads pages, scripts, photographs and prerecorded practice audio from the website host. The hosting provider may process ordinary request information such as IP addresses and security logs to deliver and protect the site. This is separate from uploading microphone recordings; the app has no such upload feature in this edition.
No account or analytics integration
This edition does not include a login, advertising tracker or analytics integration. Links to official test resources lead to separate sites with their own practices.
Export, removal and device changes
You can export a journal and download recordings from their review pages. Journal exports contain text and feedback, not audio. Use the app’s local-data deletion control or your browser’s site-data settings to remove stored work. Clearing data, private browsing or changing browsers/devices can remove or separate progress. Localhost and nepious.com have different storage origins.
Be thoughtful about what you say
Practice prompts do not require sensitive personal information. You can use an ordinary or hypothetical example. If you download a recording or journal, you control where that file is stored and shared.
